Client Liaison

We recently handled artwork production for two Client Liaison albums that were pressed-up for vinyl release via Sofa King Vinyl, under license from Dot Dash Recordings, Australia.

The original artwork design for the self-titled Client Liaison album was done by Peter Derring. We expanded on this design for the single, baby pink 33rpm LP, including the labels. An additional photo by Kate Ballis was also added.

The 2x 45rpm blue LP edition of “Diplomatic Immunity” utilized parts of the artwork created for the original Australian release, by Ilya Milstein, with Cosmo Feltham and Stephen Townsend.

Ian Morris - “a and b of the c and d”

”a and b the c of d” is the new album from the late Ian Morris.

This album was recorded before his death in 2010 and has finally been released.
Cover photo is from a 1987 video shoot (photography unknown).

”The family of New Zealand Music icon Ian Morris announce the posthumous release of a and b the c of d, a solo record completed before his death a decade ago. The album will be released digitally and on limited edition LP on 30 October.

Best known as a founding member of Th’ Dudes and as his solo alter ego Tex Pistol, Morris was also an award-winning and in-demand producer and engineer. He won Engineer of the Year in 1978 for Hello Sailor’s debut album at the New Zealand Music Awards. The very next year Th’ Dudes won best single for ‘Be Mine Tonight’ and best group. In the following decades he continued to write and record his own music and that of others, finally making a and b the c of d - his first solo record under his own name.

Kim Willoughby describes the album - named after a family code for ‘above and beyond the call of duty’ - as a collection of songs Ian wrote, produced, collated and left for us fully formed.”

Artwork was created for a 12” vinyl LP and digital release.

Initial Talk feat. Sasha Brown ‘Skydiving’

Luca Discs is proud to release the new single ‘Skydiving’ from Initial Talk featuring Sashsa Brown.

Initial Talk Skydiving Maxi Cover PR.jpg

Initial Talk has been making waves with their 1980s-kissed remixes of songs by today's most popular artists. From Lady Gaga to Kylie Minogue to Dua Lipa, Initial Talk transports modern pop classics back to the MTV era.

The Initial Talk remixes of Dua Lipa’s ‘New Rules’ and ‘IDGAF’ have together clocked-in over 14 million streams on Spotify alone.

The last few weeks have seen Initial Talk remixes of Sam Sparro’s ‘Love Like That’ and Perfume Genius’ ‘On The Floor’. Paper Magazine says “Initial Talk has transformed ‘On The Floor’ into a euphoric bop straight out of the Reagan era.”

It’s no surprise Initial Talk’s original tracks follow the same feel-good ‘80s nostalgia of their remixes and ‘Skydiving’ is no exception. Teaming-up with extraordinary London-based vocalist Sasha Brown, ‘Skydiving’ tells the story of a wronged lover who takes the upper hand, all set to a ’80s RnB pop groove. Brown, a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and DJ has been on the rise with her singles ‘Parallel’ ‘Fix Of You’ and the just released ‘How Far Are You Willing To Go?’

The pairing of Initial Talk and and Sasha Brown on ‘Skydiving’ is a match made in pop heaven.

Miriam Clancy, Greg Fleming AND The Working Poor

Two new releases which I worked on album art for are out now.

Miriam Clancy is a US-based New Zealand artist and has just released her new album Astronomy, recorded in NYC and produced by Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Zola Jesus, TV On The Radio, Beach House). Greg Fleming is an Auckland, New Zealand artist and Get Off At Lincoln was recored at Auckland’s Lab Studios with Ollie Harmer and Greg’s Working Poor band.

Trivia 1: Both cover images were shot by the artists themselves.

Trivia 2: I played bass for several years with Greg in New Zealand and also produced his 2012 album Edge Of The City which featured Miriam Clancy on BVs. On October 14th I’ll be playing bass with Miriam Clancy at Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory for the Astronomy release show! It’s all a big circle!

Astronomy is also available in CD format as a mini LP cardboard wallet.
